Telegraph Family Friendly Award 2014

Havering Museum is delighted to have made the long list of Family Friendly Museums as part of the Telegraph Family Friendly Award 2014. This award is Britains biggest museum award and the only one judged by families who actually have visited these museums and galleries and have first hand experience of just how family friendly they really are. Havering Museum was delighted to make it on to the longlist of 20 museums and galleries and to have done so really reflects the effort we put in to welcoming families into our small volunteer run museum.

Sadly this year we did not make it to the shortlist of six museums but this has given us fresh new ideas and focus on how to expand our family friendly experience. As well as our usual fun packed events run during the summer holidays, we have been looking at ways to increase our interactive experience on days when we don’t have a family event planned. We have now included in our galleries handling boxes, more activity sheets and dressing up for families to enjoy. We hope these will add to our museum experience as we know how much families love to have hands on fun and exploration.
